Bronze, iron, wood, stone and weathering steel
Domènec Batalla's sculptural work spans more than fifty years of formal and material exploration, from the first terracotta pieces of the 1970s to the monumental public works in weathering steel that today stand in squares and landscapes across the Ripollès and Osona regions. Trained as a lathe mechanic, Batalla commands his materials — bronze, brass, forged iron, wood, stone — and transforms them into forms that speak to the surrounding landscape and the memory of the territory. His sculptural language blends contemporary formal synthesis with deep references to the Pyrenean landscape, local history and the human figure.
